Imperial Eagle is a ferry that in the years 1958 to 1968 sailed between Malta and Gozo. Was carrying 70 passengers and 10 cars. Over the next 20 years on the same route was only freighter. It was purchased to replace Calipso, which was passed in the possession of the famous Jacques Cousteau. In July 19, 1999 was sunk near Qawra Point at a depth of 43 meters. Imperial Eagle long to 43 meters standing upright on the sandy bottom. In the middle of the depth of now we can admire the wreck. Next to the wreckage is a statue of Jesus Christ originally sunk in 1990 at St. Paul’s. Apart from the wreck and find the statue there is also a large fragment of the old anchor pressed the reef. Diving will certainly make pleasant to us such creatures as conger, grupery, rockfish, tuna, bream and barracuda.
