Perhaps the most famous place for diving in Gozo, it is often the main reason for divers to visit this beautiful island. Xatt l-Ahmar is located in the south of the island, at the road connecting the port with the capital and three wonderful wrecks are the crowning point of this site. The next and last wreck, situated about 50m to the west of the MV Karwela is Xlendi Ferry. The ship was built in 1955 and used as a passenger ferry. It is the largest wreck in the area with a length of almost 80m, which lies at a depth of 40 metres. Unfortunately, during the sinking of the ship in 1999, when it was to become the first artificial reef and attraction for divers, it rested upside down, thus impeding the possibility of exploration. At each entry and also around the ship there are signs prohibiting swimming inside. Due to its size, this wreck is very interesting even without the possibility to explore its interior. A splendid hull and large propeller make a really strong impression.
