MV Karwela

Perhaps the most famous place for diving in Gozo, it is often the main reason for divers to visit this beautiful island. Xatt l-Ahmar is located in the south of the island, at the road connecting the port with the capital and three wonderful wrecks are the crowning point of this site. MV Karwela, just 50m away to the west of MS Cominoland. The ship was built in 1957 and it was used as a passenger ferry, the length of the wreck is 50 metres, width 8 metres. It rested on the seabed on the same day as its predecessor in 2006. The depth at which Karwela lies is about 42 metres. The wreck is in front of our entry point. We start our visit by sinking to the bottom and looking at the propeller. I recommend more experienced divers to swim under the deck to which a wide staircase leads. I encourage less experienced divers to have a look at the upper deck and bridge. After a few minutes of exploration, I suggest swimming toward the shore. Remember about your depth limits and stick to your plan not exceeding the dive time.

Difficulty level from Deep
Depth max. 40m
