Kalkara Wreck SS Margit
The original name is Theodore Mante. It was renamed many times, and finally in 1939, it adopted the name MARGIT. Since that time, the ship docked in Kalkara Creek. On April 19, 1941, it was bombed and went up in flames. It sank at a depth of 24 metres. However, two masts and chimney were still sticking out of the water. After two years, they were removed with the use of explosives. After such an ordeal, SS Margit is already very damaged, but diving there is very interesting and exciting. Visibility is usually lower than in other dive sites, but the immensity of the ship and marine life creates an atmosphere. Diving with SMB is mandatory due to the boat traffic in the harbour.
