Easily Accessible Wreck for Open Water Divers
The P31 was constructed in 1969 within the former German Democratic Republic as part of the Condor class, designed for sapper activities. With identical dimensions to its counterpart P29, it spans 52 meters in length, 7 meters in width, and weighs 361 tons. Serving in the patrol fleet of the Maltese Navy from 1992, it participated in various maritime missions, including counter-smuggling operations and numerous rescue endeavors, until 2004. In 2009, the vessel underwent modifications to accommodate diving activities and was deliberately sunk along the eastern shoreline of Comino. Boasting a maximum depth of 19 meters, this impressive and well-preserved wreck is easily accessible even for divers certified at the Open Water Diver level.
