HMS Maori
A piece of World War II History
The HMS Maori sank as a result of bombing by German aircraft in February 1942 in Grand Harbour Valletta, taking one of the crewmen with it. The HMS Maori served during World War II, fighting in the North Sea and assisting as a convoy escort en route to Norway. However, its most well-known mission was the destruction of the battleship Bismarck. The HMS Maori also aided in the rescue of the crew of the Bismarck after it sank.
