Dwejra, the location of the famous Blue Hole and Azure Window, is on the west side of the island. Besides Blue Hole, there are many other fascinating dive sites here, such as Inland Sea and cave system. Blue Hole on Gozo is the most relaxing dive site for both recreational and technical diving with 50+ depths. Maximum depth in the Blue Hole itself is 17 m, while passage under the arch unto the open sea is at 7 m. At the bottom there is an entrance to a cave, in which we can see beautiful congeries hidden in the nooks. After swimming out of the Blue HoleeeHole, we will see subtly descending bottom studded with rocks of different sizes and a great deal of various underwater creatures.
Here, you may encounter langoustes, crabs, snails, octopi, sea urchins, jellyfishes, small and big fish such as tuna, barracuda, grouper. It’s a paradise for underwater photographers.
Diving here can be enjoyed in many different ways. We can go right and swim around the Azure Window. We can go left, along the wall – we will reach a crack between rocks of the chimney at 16 m, through which we can easily swim through and arrive nearby Coral Garden.
It’s one of the most interesting places on Gozo – both under and over water. There is greatly developed tourist infrastructure, restaurants, restrooms, a huge parking lot. Underwater there is teeming life, great water clarity, amazing light play and marvellous rock formations. Minimum requirements: OWD certification.
