qawra point

Qawra Point lies at the southern tip of St. Paul’s Bay, where a large Roman anchor was recovered from the sea. The profile initially drops slowly, and the monotony of the Posidonia meadows gives way to a steep slope reaching 40 meters. Here, many weird-shaped sponges showcase their magnificence when illuminated by a torch. A large C-shaped cave, often inhabited by brown meager and bream, completes this extensive dive. The steep slope of the valley continues underwater, with the bottom strewn with rocks that must have accumulated over the centuries. To the right of the valley’s mouth, there is a small cave, and the bottom plunges to a depth of 30 meters and beyond. This location truly reveals its splendour at night when crabs, typically hidden during the day, venture forth.
